FOSSILS

Relating ancestry to contemporary, I focus my research on the mystery behind the discovery of the beginning of life on Earth. Fossils have brought our past to life while generating countless new unknowns. Through these hidden signs, I create my pieces. Building fluid and irregular shapes with organic materials, as well as the ancient bodies, also extracted from the earth.

SOFIA EBOLI

Sofia Eboli is a Brazilian artist whose work bridges the gap between contemporary visual arts and ancestral ceramic traditions. Trained at UFRJ, she grew up immersed in the arts within a multi-generational family workshop. Today, she works within a female collective focused on natural, unglazed ceramics and pre-Columbian firing methods.

In her signature project, Fósseis, she reinterprets fossilized forms to explore the interplay between solid mass and negative space. Her sculptures seek to bring a sense of movement to rigid earth, challenging the boundaries of the medium. Her pieces have been showcased in major cultural centers like the CCBB-RJ and are currently represented by Boobam in Rio de Janeiro.
